Ijebu Towns and Obas
There are 64 Obas in Ijebu land, that constitute the traditional ruling council. These Obas are classified into 1st, 2nd and 3rd class Obas according to the Gazzette released by the Ogun State and Lagos State Government in 1982. Chief among the Obas in Ijebu Land who also doubles as the paramount ruler of Ijebu land is Alaiyeluwa Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba II – The Awujale of Ijebu land (pictured).

Places to visit in Ijebu land
Sungbo Eredo
Sungbo’s Eredo is a system of defensive walls and ditches that is located to the southwest of the Yoruba town of Ijebu Ode in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria (6.78700°N 3.87488°E). It was built in 800-1000 AD in honour of the Ijebu noblewoman Oloye Bilikisu Sungbo. The location is on Nigeria’s tentative list of potential UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
